The opening concert of our 4th season featured Felix Mendelssohn’s quartet #2 and your feedback was enthusiastic. Thank you, we love to hear when you agree that we fulfilled our mission! Although they never met each other, Mendelssohn and Schubert were contemporaries, and Franz Schubert wrote the cello quintet in C major in 1828, just a year after Mendelssohn’s quartet. Both came towards the end of what Michael Parloff’s named “the incredible decade” (1820-1830) in his Chamber Music Society lectures.
Cellist Allan Hon of the Long Beach Symphony will join the quartet who played Mendelssohn (Er-Gene Kahng, Chloe Tardif, Laila Zakzook and Alicja Blanquart) to present on Thanksgiving weekend Franz Schubert’s cello quintet in C major, generally regarded as one of the greatest compositions in all chamber music.
Please trust us on this one, and mark your calendars to not miss experiencing this Schubert Cello Quintet LIVE… We have three concerts on November 27, 26 and 28 to make sure you can catch one.
