We enjoyed the high level of musicianship and the chamber-music format, where you can use your eyes and ears to follow each instrument and musical line. In addition Herve communicated in multiple ways that this was a family-friendly place. We feel comfortable inviting both discriminating musicians and family friends to future concerts. (February 2024)
I like the format of the chamber music performances. The players are very skillful and entertaining to watch as well as hear them play. Perhaps it would be nice to have a time for questions about the music/performance aspects, especially for children or guests who are interested*. (December 2023 . * we started a post concert Q&A in 2024)
As someone who does not play an instrument, read music, but has over time come to really enjoy classical music, we have enjoyed Up Close and Classical concerts. You know when a piece of music connects with you, or moves you whether it is classical, country, or contemporary. Attending the Up Close and Classical concerts has enhanced our appreciation for classical music. At each concert we are given information about the artist, the historical period, the stories behind the piece of music, and sometimes unique personal information that brings the music alive in a new way. We have also found that the concerts are all about the music and are not elitist, snobby, or should we say welcome those of us not so well informed about classical music. Well done Up Close and Classical. (June 2025)
