MUSICAL FORM AND THE STRING QUARTET, MAY 11th

In anticipation of our May 24-25 concerts in San Pedro and Long Beach, UP CLOSE AND CLASSICAL has partnered with the SAN PEDRO REGIONAL BRANCH LIBRARY (click for address) to educate the library patrons about MUSICAL FORM and CHAMBER MUSIC.

When ? SUNDAY MAY 11th at 2:00PM.

Where? 931 S. Gaffey Street in San Pedro, CA 90731

What is musical form? Can we compare a composer’s musical experience of time with a painter’s pictorial experience of space? Is time inside our heads, or clearly outside, or both? Can chamber music really help 21st century humans better understand time? At the SAN PEDRO LIBRARY, on MAY 11th, these questions will be discussed through illustrations and musical examples from the Mozart Dissonance quartet and Smetana’s quartet #1, as well as live music from UP CLOSE AND CLASSICAL Resident cellist. Presented by Alicja and Hervé Blanquart.
